The Graduate School of International Studies is pleased to make two important announcements related to research, publication and international networking. The first concerns the renaming of our central research institute from the Institute for International Trade and Cooperation (IITC) to the Institute for International and Area Studies (IIAS) in order to reflect better our contemporary focus and direction. The IIAS serves as an umbrella coordinating organization for our research and training centers, including the Public Diplomacy Center, the Center for Global Social Responsibility, and the EU Center. It brings together researchers for major research initiatives and projects and partners with other institutes and universities in Asia, North America, Europe, Latin America, and Africa. It also partners with government and non-government organizations to provide opportunities for scholars, students, and the general public. We work closely to arrange workshops, conferences, and publication opportunities with the Scholars Group for Public Diplomacy of the Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with the Korean International Studies Association (KISA), with the Asian Political and International Studies Association (APISA), and with Palgrave Macmillan Publishers.

The second important announcement concerns the Asian International Studies Review (AISR), a scholarly, peer-reviewed journal, published biannually in June and December by GSIS and the IIAS. It is a registered journal at the Korea Research Foundation and has been listed by the Korea Citation Index (KCI) since 2010. The AISR is the official journal of KISA and one of the five journals endorsed by APISA. The principle aim of AISR is to advance international studies research broadly defined to include international relations, international economics, international security, international law, development cooperation, comparative politics, international trade and investment, international business, Asian and cross-cultural studies. It also supports networking and the exchange of ideas between academics and practitioners across disciplines, countries, and regions in order to give a greater voice to scholars of the international interactions of Asia, and to Asian-based scholars of international affairs.

The Graduate School of International Studies and the Institute for International and Areas Studies are pleased to announce that the Asian International Studies Review has been selected for listing in Scopus. Scopus is the world's largest abstract and citation database of peer-reviewed literature: scientific journals, books and conference proceedings. Scopus listing is very competitive, with only a limited number of top international publications being selected. Thus, this will add greatly to the growing international reputation and impact of the journal. It will also help to raise the international profile of the GSIS and the university as a whole.

국제대학원(원장 김영훈)과 국제지역연구소(소장Brendan Howe)가 6월과 12월 연 2회 발행하는 Peer-Reviewed학술지인 Asian International Studies Review (약칭 AISR)가 Scopus의 등재지로 선정되었다. Scopus는 학술지, 저서, 컨퍼런스 발표논문 등을 포괄하는 세계 최대의 권위 있는 초록/인용 데이터베이스로서, 우수한 발행물만을 제한적으로 선정하여 관리하고 있다.

AISR은 한국연구재단에 등록되어 있으며, 2010년부터 한국학술지인용색인(KCI)에 등재되어 있다. 또한, 한국국제학회의 공식 학술지이자 아시아정치국제학회가 인준하는 5개의 학술지 중 하나로서, 국제관계, 국제경제, 국제안보, 국제법, 개발협력, 비교정치학, 국제통상 및 투자, 국제경영, 아시아 및 비교문화연구 등을 아우르는 국제학연구의 진보에 기여하고 있다. AISR은 학문, 국가, 지역의 경계를 넘어 학계와 업계의 교류 및 정보 교환을 지원하여 아시아의 국제학 연구자들에게 학술적 활동의 장을 마련하고 있다.

국제대학원 산하 연구기관인 국제통상협력연구소는 연구소의 주요 연구 포커스와 연구방향을 보다 잘 반영하기 위해 국제지역연구소(the Institute for International and Area Studies, 약칭 IIAS)로 명칭을 변경하였다. 국제지역연구소는 공공외교센터, 글로벌사회적책임센터, EU 센터 등의 산하 연구훈련센터를 관장하며, 연구자들의 학술적 교류의 허브 역할을 하고 있다. 아시아, 북미, 유럽, 라틴아메리카, 아프리카 등의 여러 연구소 및 대학 외에도 정부 기구 및 비정부기구와 협력하고 있으며, 외교부의 공공외교 학술그룹, 한국국제학회(Korean International Studies Association, KISA), 아시아정치국제학회(Asian Political and International Studies Association, APISA), 폴그레이브 맥밀리언 (Palgrave Macmillan Publisher) 출판사 등과 협업을 통해 워크샵 및 컨퍼런스, 학술지 발간 등을 수행하고 있다.

AISR 의 Scopus 등재는 해당 학술지의 국제적 명성과 영향력의 확대뿐만 아니라 국제대학원 및 이화여자대학교의 국제적 지명도 상승에도 도움이 될 것으로 보인다.
