Youngook Jang is a Research Fellow at the Korea Institute for International Economic Policy (KIEP). He completed his PhD in Economic History at London School of Economics and Political Science in 2019, with a thesis on migration and ethnic diversity in the Soviet and post-Soviet space. Before joining KIEP, he was a post-doctoral research fellow at Stellenbosch University, South Africa, where he worked on parish data of Cape Town Anglican Church which contains information about marriage, birth, and death of South Africans living in the late-19th century. His research area includes migration, demography, labor market and economic history. More recently, he has written many pieces on regional integration in Europe and the socioeconomic impact of COVID-19.
